Global: Rainham steel investments Ltd had previously invested in a new distribution facility in response to the growth and development of the business. A contractor was subsequently engaged and completed the project under a Design & Build contract, however over the course of the following years a defect manifested itself in the crane gantry structure which needed to be properly rectified.
Specific: The removal of the steel crane gantry, the installation of piled foundations, ground bearing floor slab with associated drainage, followed by the re-erection of the new steel gantry frame.
Challenges: The client wished to maintain a full operational capability across the site, even though Downwell have been engaged to undertake extensive Civils/Enabling works, most especially to the site crane which is of key importance to the effective and efficient movement of both raw, and processed, materials around the site. To mitigate this challenge the Downwell delivery team have taken part in extensive pre-construction planning activities to design a programme of works that ensures compliance with the client requirements.
