Global: Close to London’s financial district, and built in the early 1990’s, this former Thomspon Reuters data centre is now owned and operated by Telehouse. The facility provides a upto 18MW of IT power with the highest levels of physical security and integrates the Docklands Data Centre campus, the most connected in Europe.
Specific: Strip-out of data-floors and Service Risers ahead of the installation of servers and support infrastructure.
Challenges: Service isolation and tracing – The building is almost thirty years and over that time new cabling has been installed to ensure that the facility maintains the highest levels of connectivity, and low latency network connectivity. As such there is extensive amounts of redundant cabling that remains throughout the data- floors and these must be tested and checked before being removed. Checking and isolation must be undertaken by the client’s representatives and as such this can lead to periods of inactivity until the necessary verification/termination has been closed-out. Working with the clients team minimised the ‘down-time’ by allocating staff to other areas of the site to ensure that we maximised programme efficiency whilst mitigating non-productive time.
