Poland House, Stratford

Poland House, Stratford

Downwell is proud to be delivering enabling works at Poland House, located on Stratford High Street, in support of a major redevelopment into high-quality student accommodation for our valued client McAleer & Rushe. This live project marks a critical first step in transforming the site into a vibrant living space for future generations.

Scope

  • Removal of all concrete substructures, including ground floor slab, ramp, and foundations
  • Installation of temporary works to retaining walls
  • Construction of multi-level piling mat and access ramps
  • Site preparation for piling rig team
  • Traffic and logistics management on a highly restrictive urban site

Challenges and Expertise

Operating directly on Stratford High Street presents unique logistical challenges, including maintaining continuous traffic flow through a single site entrance and managing high volumes of vehicle movements. Through smart planning and strategic stockpiling of 6F2 material, our team has ensured uninterrupted progress, even during critical phases such as ramp removal.

Outcome

With enabling works well underway, the site is being prepared for piling. Temporary wall supports and substructure removal have been completed with precision and care. The team’s focus on safety, efficiency, and collaboration continues to drive the project forward, laying the groundwork for a transformative development.
